The Program for the Advancement of Biomedical Sciences Education in Latin America (PABSELA) was established in collaboration with Fundación Crimson of Argentina to create training opportunities for young investigators in Latin America and promote professional exchanges in the biomedical sciences field. The first training course, focused on stem cell research and involving faculty from multiple institutions, including Harvard Medical School, was held at the Fundacion Instituto Leloir in Buenos Aires in 2007. A second course was held in March 2008. An overarching objective of the PABSELA courses is to create new ties between Latin and North American researchers that may result in long-term research collaborations in this field.
