- A: Harvard Medical International was established by Harvard Medical School in 1994 with a mandate to extend internationally Harvard Medical School's tradition of excellence in improving health care, medical education, and biomedical research. HMI is a not-for-profit subsidiary of Harvard University. HMI's programs and partnerships draw upon the intellectual resources of HMS and its 18 affiliated institutions and more than 9,000 faculty members.

- A: Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) was created by the Government of Dubai, United Arab Emirates with the objective of becoming, by 2010, a globally acknowledged location of choice for health care and a center of excellence for specialist medical services, medical education, and life science research. HMI, as DHCC's key strategic collaborator, has been working with DHCC to develop DHCC's capabilities and service offerings in the areas of medical education, health care delivery, and research. - A: The Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research is a postgraduate medical institution affiliated with the academic medical center planned for DHCC. HMSDC research programs are conducted in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and leading academic centers around the world. The programs are a means of training and developing scientists and of contributing to medical innovations to improve health care.
