The number of medical students applying to surgery residencies has declined in the United States in recent years. This has been attributed to the intense pressure and long hours typical of surgery residencies. Surgery training courses must accommodate the highly demanding schedules of residents and provide a way for program directors to track their progress.

Popular BeST Resident program gets rave reviews from surgical residents
"BeST Resident definitely saves me time as a Program Director. No matter how busy I get, I know that there is a program for the interns and they are progressing through it. We are doing something for them and they are learning something. That makes me feel better and I can worry about other areas."
